The Perfect Cup of Tea!

teaOne of my very favorite things to do is drink a cup of tea with friends and family! I have been drinking tea for decades. As a British born woman, I was raised on tea. I remember drinking tea, albeit weak and milky when I was a wee little one!

As an adult, and now American citizen, my tea drinking ways remain the same!

I have shared many cups of tea, with many friends, and boy if those cups could speak! We have laughed in our tea; cried in our tea, talked about boys with our tea; spilled our tea; had tea in the hot tub while sharing girly secrets; had tea while watching movies during sleep overs; I even made tea on an all girls camping trip, complete with china cups!

Tetley tea is my favorite, although it has to be British Blend.  It is essential for a cup of tea to have a splash of milk and a teaspoon of sugar. Tea can never be made in the microwave! Microwave tea is an unpardonable sin!!

I can not count the number of people I have converted to my tea drinking ways, since moving to the United States over twenty-five years ago! So I thought I’d see if I can get a few of you to join me also! Here is the correct way to make a cup of tea.

What you need:

  • Boiling water either from a stove top or electric kettle.
  • A teapot
  • A tea cozy (not required, but keeps the pot hot)
  • Teabags
  • A teacup (preferably something light and not too muggish!)
  • A dash of milk (not cream)
  • A teaspoon of sugar

How to:

Boil the water until it is rolling. Pour a little water into the pot, swirl and dump out. This warms the pot and keeps your tea nice and hot.

Place teabags into pot and fill with boiling water. Stir slightly. If you have a cozy, place it over the pot now.

Allow the tea to sit for 3-4 minutes. Meanwhile pour a little milk into the bottom of your cup and add your sugar.

Stir the tea in the pot and pour directly into your cup.

Stir to dissolve the sugar.

Sip, relax and enjoy!
